Not what I was expecting

Bought this for my daughter and it came yesterday. Looks cheap, like they just randomly inserted a big koala coloring book image over an adult coloring book page. Kind of cheesy in my opinion, but my 11 year old is obsessed with koalas, so she thinks it's great. Not horrible, just really not what I was expecting.

Don't waste your money.

I thought this book would be good due to the cute picture on the cover but I was wrong. The pictures are alright but they have shading lines throughout the entire drawing which makes it hard to color. I am very disappointed. Not worth the money.

Awesome read for the girl boss starting over

About the Author
J. Belinda Yandell is a Nashville writer, designer, compulsive crafter and artist known around town as the Crafty Wench. “I was born crafty,” Yandell says, “and I’ve been crafty all my life. I'm sure when I die, it will be face-first into a pile of beads, ribbon, paint and Elmer's Glue. They can put my ashes in cigar box covered with macaroni and spray-painted gold. It’s a compulsion. Fun and unique designs!

I ordered two of these, one for me, one for a gift. Based on actual paintings by Nashville artist J. Belinda Yandell, these coloring pages are wonderful-full of whimsy and fun. There is plenty of detail but a lot of bold space to fill in, so they are slightly different than the usual adult coloring books. There is quite a bit of variety in the pictures to keep you inspired. (The cover image IS included in the coloring pages!)

The 24 pages in this book are not perforated, and it doesn’t lie completely flat, but the images start far enough away from the binding (and are bordered) so you can color the entire picture or tear them out easily. The pages are printed on one side.

The paper is medium weight, perfect for crayons, gel pens, and colored pencils.

Regular markers (Sharpie, Crayola, Artist Loft) only bled through with heavy coverage, so looking forward to using markers as well as colored pencils.

I tested Dye Markers and alcohol ink on one page. They do leak through so place freezer paper or cardstock under your coloring page to protect the next image.

I tried water color pencils, only using a minimal amount of water and they did not bleed through any more than the alcohol ink. Obviously, this paper is not designed for watercolor, but if you're careful, it can be done.

I would recommend this coloring book for anyone looking for a way to meditate, relax, decompress, or just have some child-like fun.
