About the Author
Author Tara Ellis lives in a small, rural town in Washington State, set in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She enjoys the quiet lifestyle with her husband, two teenage kids and several dogs. Tara was a firefighter/EMT, and worked in the medical field for many years, before committing herself to writing young adult and middle grade novels full-time. (she still dabbles in teaching CPR)

A Gripping Story of Survival

Getting Out Alive: The Autumn Veatch Story by Tara Ellis is a gripping story about Autumn's survival in a plane crash that killed her step grandparents.
I had read the news article when the accident happened and thought that it was a miracle that Autumn survived and was able to hike out of the wilderness to finally be rescued. When this book came out, I wanted to know more about the girl who had overcome so much and became a true survivor in more ways than one.
This is a well-written account by Tara Ellis of what it took for Ms. Veatch to get through this harrowing experience. Kudos to both Ms. Ellis and Ms. Veatch for an excellent read. Highly recommend.

Powerful!

What a powerful story about a very strong young lady. I could feel her pain and suffering all the way through and yet could feel her strength over come it. Never under estimate will power and inner strength! Tara is such a good writer and always able to capture feelings of situations complete with a powerful positive message. I only wish the read could have been longer, but to think of it...I'm glad for Autumn's sake it wasn't! Autumn, you are an amazing person!

Short but powerful

Well-written, true account of a plane crash survivor. Vivid descriptions of the rough terrain and the young teen's emotions during the ordeal left me breathless at times. Well done! This is a short but powerful story.
