I liked Evan

Evan is book 3.5 in the Carter Brothers series. Evan is Denny's brother and their relationship is a little rocky after the whole Denny situation. I really struggled how to rate Evan. I was stuck with rating it a 3.5 or 4 stars. I liked the story and Evan himself was another alpha to fall in love with so I rated it a 4 star.
Evan seems to want it all after Kennedy and Imogen show up at his door. I liked Evan I think he was caring, protective and another great character written by the author.
The story was fast paced and well written. I wanted a little more twist to the story but it was pretty straight forward.
In the beginning,Evan reminded me of Better Left Forgotten, Book 1 in the Forgotten Series which was written by Lisa. The whole sister thing with Kennedy and Imogen was similar.
I wish Kennedy would have used curse words inside of saying things like"Sugar" and "Fiddle Sticks". It made her seem younger than she really was and I didn't find it cute.
Overall, it was a good story and I am happy he got what he always wanted.

This is book 3.5 in the Carter Brothers series and should be read in order.
Evan Smith knew what he wanted out of life, then his sister’s kidnapping changed everything for him. Now he wants more out of life than what he had, so he sets about making the changes to get to where he wants to be. Just as he starts to settle down he is hit with a surprise he never saw coming.
Evan had his life turn up-side-down when he found out that the woman he thought was his mother not only wasn’t but she had murdered his real mother and kidnapped his sister. This change Evan's whole look on life, he wanted what his sister Denny has, a family of her own. Knowing that being an undercover police officer really didn’t help him to achieve his goal, he decided to make a career change.
Kennedy Wright hasn’t had an easy life but she makes the most of what she has. Taking care of her niece Imogen is her first priority. Knowing that if she doesn’t find Imogen father she could lose her niece, sends Kennedy knocking on Evan’s door giving him the biggest surprise of his life. She not out to take him for what he has but she just needs his help to protect her niece.
Evan may only be a Carter through his sister Denny but is just a fiercely protective as them. We first met Evan in Denny and Mason story. He was a character you didn’t get to know as much but his own story gives readers an inside look at what kind of man he is. Evan never really understood what his sister went through until it was too late. Not wanting to let life pass him by Evan changed so he could settle down and start a family. Then a petite brown eyed brunette showed up at his door shaking up his world again with shocking news and setting his desire on fire. Kennedy may have gone to Evan for help but she definitely got more than she bargain for. The moment these two first met their lust and desire for one another ignites. Kennedy was very open with her reasons for landing on Evan’s door steps but the attention he gives her only made her shy and flustered around him. Kennedy hasn’t ever really encountered what it’s like for a man to want to be there for her and the protectiveness they can have, and with Evan she gets to experience it not just towards herself but her niece Imogen too.
Lisa delivers another amazing story in the Carter Brothers series. Evan and Kennedy are two characters you can help but root for. You want them together, to see them become a family. Both the lives that Evan and Kennedy’s sister have lived prove things don’t always run smoothly. The twists in this story draws you in and leave you wanting more. Of course with this being a part of the Carter Brother series, the readers also get to catch up with of the Carter family.
I was given this book for review by the author and I do have to say that Lisa’s writing and storytelling just keeps getting better with every book she writes. I can’t wait for that last two books in the series!

Loved both the H and h.

To anyone who is familiar with the series they know that Evan is the brother of the heroine from book 2. And from the way we were introduced it didn't take much to think that Lexi, his next door neighbor, was going to be his love interest but I was pleasantly surprised to find out she wasn't. Evan and Kennedy were a coupled that paired amazingly together and surprisingly I liked both the H and h, which is something that doesn't always happen in stories. But I was rooting for both Evan and Kennedy.
Evan was a man who lived for his job and because of that he had separated himself from his family. But this has unintended consequences when his sister is harmed and in the aftermath this has him reevaluating his life and what he wants from it. He wants to fix his relationships with his family especially his sister and begin to find that one woman who will be his wife and begin his own family. Little does he know that his desire for a family of his own will be fufilled.
Kennedy is a girl who had a rough start to life but never gave up on hoping for a better future. She is a woman who doesn't have many she loves completely but the one person she does love is one she will do anything for and so she goes looking for the one person who can help her do that. But that one person will change both their lives forever and for the better.
This was a really great story and in most cases I really don't have like the type of insta-lust/love type stories but it was handled well in Evan (the book). I think that both characters were in a place in life where they were open to finding that one person to love without all the major angst and miscommunication. Plus, they both had one person in common who helped to bring them together because of their mutual love for that person.
Another great thing about this book is the setup for Max's story at the end. I can't wait to see what that was all about.

Though I have to say in this book I slightly disliked Evan's sister in this book at the beginning but all was forgiven in the end. It was just in that particular scene my heart broke for Evan because you know he was nervous and wanted his sister to love and accept everything and you could feel how hurt and disappointed he was by her reaction. Also, I was expecting more interaction with his father.
