A wonderfully helpful guide to the advanced spiritual path

I received this book as a gift. It is a beautiful follow up to the author's earlier book, Advanced Path: Guideposts on the Radiant Path to Liberation and Beyond. While the first book was written as a collection of poems, this book is not; the author goes into detailed explanations of the process of awakening and the journey beyond awakening into full Realization. Mu's writing strikes at the heart of what every spiritual path endeavors to teach, but this author's unique gift is to express in clear, accessible language what is usually only shared between living teachers and their most advanced students. It is a rare thing to encounter Truth in such form, with such purity.

This is the second book I've read by Mu and though it is a very different style from the first, it's just as (if not even more) inspiring and enlightening as the first. The first book was all in free form verse format, every paged was pure poetry of the soul. This piece is all prose, but when reading it I felt as though it took all of the emotion of the first collection of poems and went into full detail on every idea addressed before and then further expanded on them. These essays constantly wax poetic, and the message and lessons in "Walking the Advanced Path" are invaluable. I brought this book with me on a time of traveling and a lot of changing and it utterly grounded me throughout that time. This book was my home, when I was stressed from traveling and changing locations every other day, this book was my spiritual center.
I believe everyone can gain something from reading "Walking the Advanced Path." It challenges what is "normal" and "accepted" for spiritual growth, it's honest, poignant, refreshing, beautiful, inspiring, and by the end I cried when I closed the book - partially from resonance and partially from the simple fact that I didn't want my reading of the lessons to be over. I'll certainly open this book many times in my life, and have already doven in again whenever I wanted to take in some wise words in my daily life.
