At the age of 36 I was over 225 pounds when I decided I needed to lose weight. I really had no idea how to do it so I just made sure I did not eat every single thing I wanted, and tried to get some exercise. As I changed my lifestyle the weight began to come off and over five years I lost 100 pounds. As I went through this process I noticed there was a lot of things I hated. I found myself not nearly as happy as I thought I would be about losing weight so I began to look at those things I hated in a more positive light. In the end I created a list of 100 things I loved, and hated about losing 100 pounds. I have been able to list these things and add commentary to each one of those things. Humor has always been a coping mechanism for me and this book is a great example of how I approach just about everything in life. Good, and bad.
author_bio: Angela is a 42 year old woman who has been described as a chocolate chip cookie with a dash of Tobasco sauce. She spent over five years losing 100 pounds, and has since successfully NOT kept all the weight off. She takes one day at a time, and has been known to have several months of bad eating at a time, but has been able to keep her weight under control by her own standards. As the 100 goal line was approaching she felt a deep need to share her thoughts with others who may be experiencing the same things. She enjoys spending time with her family, learning new things, and eating cupcakes.

Good Quick Read!!

100 Things I Love And Hate About Losing 100 LBS! is Angela's story of everything she went through to lost 100 pounds. This book is written like a letter to her former self and everyone around her that got her to this point in her life. With paragraphs of what she loves and hates about that particular thing from family, co-workers and food itself, it gives a deeper picture of why she was able to gain the weight in the first place to being able to be a someone that she dreamed of being.
This is a extremely short book but if you are overweight and know what it's like to gain weight, i would highly suggest you read this book. Being overweight myself, I get what she went through from people making fun of you for being a certain size and pretty much everything she wrote was about 90 percent true for me. I think this would be a great motivation book for overweight people that if you want it bad enough you will lose the weight and be the person that was always there inside just waiting to come out and shine.

Funny and insightful

Angela Hartshorn packs a lot into her "100 Things I Love and Hate About losing 100 lbs!"
The author, who spent five years to lose 100 lbs., uses humor to present the love/hate relationships she encountered during her efforts to lose 100 pounds. As she points out, you can love someone's support, but you can hate how it enables you to eat when you shouldn't. Same for workouts - love the effect, hate the effort.
As she recounts, some days you lose. Other days you gain. You love the good days, but hate the bad. You give yourself credit, but then turn around and put the blame back on yourself.
The author doesn't preach or go overboard with dos and don'ts. Instead, her personal insights give readers struggling with weight loss a message that they aren't alone. Her words carry the same thoughts heard in that many carry on internally with themselves.
Kudos to Hartshorn, who emphasizes that weight loss can definitely be a personal gain.

The author lost almost 100 pounds over a several year period (and looks AMAZING in the final photo in the book)

I was surprised how much I liked this book. It's a non-fiction short read by a woman who has lost almost 100 pounds (and looks AMAZING in the final photo in the book) over a several year period.
It's not a diet book in that she isn't plugging a specific diet or exercise program, but it's more an open discussion about the things that she loves and hates in her life. For example, she loves her friends for accepting her just the way she is, but also hates them because they didn't tell her "honey, put down the cupcake!" She discussed family, friend, work, exercise, relationships, kids in the same way throughout the book.
