Don't leave your future to chance!!!

I have read all of Shawn Smith's books and gained valuable insight from each one. However, I really wanted my 19-year-old daughter to read this one. I have been married 20 years to a great man who is definitely "worth it" but I want her to actually understand and see what makes a good man for the long haul. I don't want to see her make the same relationship mistakes so many women make. I want her to become aware of the qualities that make men truly good boyfriends and husbands, and this book does precisely that. The author isn’t apologetic about men or male behavior. Just like his other book, “The Woman’s Guide to How Men Think,” this one celebrates the differences between men and women, and I appreciate that in a time when the lines of gender are becoming blurry. Even more important, IMHO, the book acknowledges that some men, more than others, have traits and characteristics that are better suited to long-term relationships. I have heard lots of mothers express the "get out there and experiment" attitude to their daughters which honestly freaks me out! Why not be selective and wise instead of only learning through random trial and error?!
Anyway, I love “the three pillars of a good man” (sense of purpose, good mental health, and emotional maturity) because it’s such a simple but powerful framework for thinking about what will work in a relationship years down the road. The “12-point man inspection” is also a useful tool, and great conversation starter between men and women. The writing is lighthearted but well researched and organized. I highly recommended this book for any woman who wants to know how great relationships work and what truly good men bring to the table. My daughter loved it and has said that the insight she gained is sticking with her

"Is He Worth It?" is valuable information fun to read

I have just read this and was pleased to give it, as a gift, to 3 friends.
Shawn always seems to be amusing and instructive and gets to his points clearly and easily.
Those who have received my gift of "Is He Worth It" have told me Shawn gets fast to the important issues with his 3 pillars, his 12-point inspection, and his 10 self-deceptions that lead to costly relationship errors.
In my opinion, and that of female friends, Shawn presents in this book a no-bull way to find the hidden traits of good men.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I wish it was around to read when I was in my 20's!
I have a few single girlfriends that will be receiving this book as a gift. They seem to fall for the same "bad boy" over and over. This book goes through what makes a “good man” (meaning one that’s a good fit for you and has the basic relationship skills) and in the process points out a lot of the bad behavior exhibited by men who are not quite as good. Hopefully my friends will wake up and make better choices or at the very least, take a look at themselves and see how they contribute to the problem.
Dr. Smith clearly has a good sense of humor and brings that to the book making it a fun and fairly easy read.
