Miracles do exist!

“Honey, you’re handsomer than a baboon’s butt in matin’ season.”
Many of us probably picture senior citizens as helpless. However, the ones that you will encounter in this story have some spunk! It's hard to picture an eighty year-old that uses the word "epic", let alone one that has a Justin Bieber song playing as their ringtone. In this story, such a senior citizen exists!
Initially, I didn't know what to expect. It was quite obvious that the characters have pretty loud and colorful personalities, and I didn't really find them likable in the beginning. As the story progresses, they progressively grew on me. The women decide to attempt to create a miracle to save their "St. Monica's". But you simply cannot help but feel sorry for them when their attempt at a "miracle" was more of a disaster than a real miracle.
I enjoyed reading the book and found it really fun to read. It won't require a miracle to finish the book!

Looking forward to retirement

I rarely get to read a book or see a movie about old people anymore. The last ones I enjoyed were Jack Lemmon and Walther Matthau’s Odd Couple and Grumpy Old Men. Now, senior citizens are always in the background, portrayed as senile and helpless. So, I was delighted to come across this book. It shows what four senior women can do if they join forces. It was hilarious and fast-paced. The characters were alive and the dialogue was witty. I especially like the banter between Ida and her husband Herschel. Looking forward to “On the road again”, the next book in the series.

Very interesting style of writing...author has an intuitive descriptive sense that enables the reader to picture the events taken place in a visual sense, almost as if watching a play or movie. Very captivating story...highly recommended!
